Being a VW, you would think that they would keep some things consistent across their engines, but with the 4 cyl turbo Tiguan, they decided to run the water pump off a completely different drive system on the back of the engine. Because the water pump is so far away from the timing belt now, it had to have a new dedicated belt system put in place to run. This belt system connects to a camshaft looking rod that drives a smaller belt just to run the water pump. Below you can find a video showing how this unique belt drive system works on your VW Tiguan.
